North Side of the Island

This piece was created as part of my Painting I coursework at Mississippi College. Inspired by a photo album shared by a close family member who lives in Hawaii, I chose to work from an image of the lush, green landscape of Honolulu. The reference stood out to me for its richness in detail and the challenge it presented.

One of the most rewarding, and difficult, elements to paint was the rainbow. Capturing its mystical, transparent quality while still maintaining the brightness of its colors pushed me both technically and creatively.
